Some of the information from Judah Trowbridge of Bourbon IN, who borrowed a letter from Helen Phebus that was written in 1968 by Margorie E Parnell.
Parnell Letter, 1968.
"The 1st reunion of the descendants of Wm. and Sarah Yokum Ford was held at the old home of Benjamin Ford, Oct 18, 1912 in the Antioch neighborhood . Mr. & Mrs. Wesley Ford lived in the home at the time.
"The 2nd. reunion was held the following year at the old home of washington Ford, at that time occupied by Geo. & Frank Ford. This home is near West Lebanon, Indiana.
"The 3rd. meeting was held at Arthur Ford's home at the time occupied by Arthur's son Jas. & his wife. Arthur was a son of Benjamin Ford.
" In 1916 the meeting was held at the home of Jas. Harvey Ford, who was a son of Washington Ford. This was on the Indiana-Illinois State Line, Ill. side, 2 miles south on Route #9.
"In 1919 the meeting was with Chas. Ford, son of George Ford at his home near Argos, Indiana. Because of the distance from the larger group of Fords & an unusual busy season at that time this meeting was not satisfactorily attended & the yearly meetings were discontinued until 1934.
"After a pause of 17 years, Sept. 2, the Ford kin(a)gain met at the Boswell School House for reorganization. Justin W. Ford, son of James Harvey & Mary Guest Ford, was active in this reorganization.
"The name Ford was derived from Ford man, the man who guarded old Fords across the streams of England & guided travelers in crossing them before bridges were built. Therefore, Ford is a common nome. Our ancestor must have been a traveler for it seems from Wales to Germany & then three sons came to America. One settled in Pennsylvania, one in Ohio & one in the South. Somewhere along the line we acquired a French Grandmother. Our family is of the Ohio Branch & Wm. Ford, our immediate ancestor came from Ross County, Ohio to Warren County, Indiana."
